Medical Surgical Unit
A 16-Bed Unit at Ashley County Medical Center
Ashley County Medical Center’s Medical Surgical Unit is located on
the 2nd floor of the hospital. Our 16-bed unit allows us to treat patients
from their infancy to the end of life. These patients may have a range
of diagnoses, from Anemia to Zoster outbreaks. Often, outpatient blood
transfusions and IV therapy are administered here on the second floor
which allows patients to have hospital care on a short term basis. Many
times patients may come to the medical surgical floor prior to surgery
and then return for observation until discharge. Having each patient in
a private room allows for us to treat the patient with individual attention
and offer bedside services with family input.
Our caregivers on the medical surgical floor range from RNs and LPN’s
to CNA’s and Ward clerks. Each staff member provides a unique experience
and degree of personal care to address the whole healing experience. Additionally,
our staff have over 80 years of combined experience!
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Care
Hospitalists, local physicians, and surgeons care for the patients on this
unit. A physician attends patient planning sessions in which dietary,
ancillary services, nursing and social work exchange ideas about the patients
and family needs. We utilize multidisciplinary planning to ensure each
person is where they need to be and receiving the care necessary for positive outcomes.
Ashley County Medical Center’s Medical Surgical floor also accommodates
some other special patients. Our Swingbed services provide Rehabilitative
services after surgeries or other distant hospital stays. You can come
home and receive the extended recuperation necessary to your recovery.
We are proud to offer a myriad of services on the Medical Surgical floor.
More importantly, we are proud to offer excellent care with a holistic
approach to healing for you and your family.
