Our first DAISY Award to Vanessa Lloyd, RN

Our first DAISY Award to Vanessa Lloyd, RN

We are proud to present our first DAISY Award to Vanessa Lloyd, RN. As a DAISY Award Honoree, she received a certificate proclaiming her "Extraordinary Nurse" status, A DAISY Award pin, and a unique, hand-carved serpentine stone sculpture from Zimbabwe, entitled "A Healer's Touch". She will also be on the spotlight page on the DAISY website, featuring a photo and telling the story of why she was honored.

Vanessa was nominated by a patient's family for her care and compassion shown during a very difficult time. She has worked at Ashley County Medical Center for 8 years. She has been awarded Nurse of the Month May 2018 and 2020 and was a Top Finalist Nurse of the Year in 2019. She has been on the frontlines during COVID-19. She always lets us know how appreciative she is whether it is for cookies or even putting her in a class. She allows God to use her as an instrument of His compassion. She gives all the glory to God.

The DAISY Award was created by the J. Patrick Barnes family in honor of him. The family wanted to honor the skillful and compassionate care Patrick received during an 8-week hospitalization prior to his death. The DAISY Award is for Extraordinary Nurses to honor the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day.

Carmon Courson, LPN and Emily Ray, RN BSN were also recognized as nominees by patients’ families.
